Benefits of 280mm Inspection Chambers
The 280mm inspection chamber specification is designed for a range of shallow drainage applications where full size access chambers would be unnecessary. The compact size makes this type of system much easier to position, particularly if space is restricted, while reducing excavation needs and simplifying installation for domestic and even light commercial usage.
Manufactured from robust materials for reliable, long-term use underground, they allow easy access for drain rodding, jetting, CCTV inspection and other maintenance needs. For smaller drainage systems, they offer a compliant and economical solution without the need for unnecessary inspection chambers.

280mm Inspection Chamber FAQs
What is a 280mm Inspection Chamber Used For?
A 280mm inspection chamber provides easy access to shallow underground drainage systems, particularly at directional changes in pipework. They allow workers to inspect, rod, jet and maintain drainage pipework without the need to install a full size inspection chamber. They are commonly installed near the start of drain runs and at minor junctions within domestic drainage systems.
What Base Configurations Are Available for 280mm Inspection Chambers?
Inspection chamber bases are available with straight-through channels and angled branch inlet options to suit typical 110mm pipework connections. Multiple inlet positions allow flexibility when building junctions into your drainage systems, and any unused openings can be sealed with blanking plugs to maintain system integrity and watertightness. See more in our installation blog.
What Is the Maximum Installation Depth for a 280mm Inspection Chamber?
Inspection chambers with an internal diameter of 300mm or less are generally limited to a maximum installation depth of 600mm. They are intended for shallow drainage systems buried close to the surface. For deeper drainage systems, larger diameter chambers (such as 315mm or 450mm units) should be used to ensure compliance, accessibility and long-term performance.
