C250 Gully Grating FAQs
What does a C250 load class mean?
A C250 load rating means the equipment is load tested up to 250kN or 25 tonnes. C250 gully grating is suitable for kerbside drainage in most low-speed situations, as it can withstand the impact of up to 6.5 tonnes per wheel load moving under 20mph.
What materials are C250 gully gratings made from?
Our gully grating is constructed from ductile iron (spheroidal graphite cast iron) according to EN 1563. This type of cast iron has excellent tensile strength, impact resistance and ductility, and stands up to the high standards required of road gully grating.
Where can C250 gully gratings be installed?
C250 grates are confirmed suitable for kerbside drainage on lightly trafficked roads, small private car parks, in factory areas and industrial plants.
In highway locations, C250 gully grating can be installed up to 50cm from the kerb or up to 20cm into road verges.
They are not suitable for motorway use, as the load from a fast-moving vehicle is much greater than from a vehicle moving under 20mph.
