What is an A15 manhole cover rating?
All manhole covers are load-tested and rated according to the maximum load they will withstand. The A15 manhole cover rating shows a maximum load of 15kN or 1529.6kg.
Where should an A15 manhole cover be used?
Because they have the lowest load rating, A15 manhole covers are only safe for interior or pedestrian-only external areas, such as gardens, courtyards and pathways.

Are A15 manhole covers safe to walk on?
Yes, an A15 manhole cover or stop tap cover is safe to walk on or cycle over, but it is not safe for road traffic. Avoid accidents by using manhole covers with the correct load rating.
Are A15 manhole covers easy to install?
Yes, simply fit the frame over the chamber opening and ensure it is fully supported. If fitted externally, PVCu A15 manhole covers should be fitted in a concrete plinth for stability and to spread loading if needed. Secure the lid with retaining screws.
