MetroSewer FAQs

What is an adoptable sewer?

An adoptable sewer is a drainage system designed to be transferred to the local water authority for ongoing maintenance. These systems must meet strict regulatory standards to ensure durability and long-term performance.

How is an adoptable sewer pipe different from a non-adoptable one?

Adoptable sewer pipes meet higher specification standards set by water authorities, ensuring they are suitable for public sewer networks. Non-adoptable pipes, such as those used for private drainage systems, may not meet these rigorous requirements but can still provide a reliable and cost-effective solution.

What type of pipe is used for residential sewer lines?

Residential sewer lines may not always require adoptable pipes. In many cases, standard smooth-walled sewer pipes are used for private drainage systems as they are more cost-effective while still offering excellent durability. However, if the sewer is intended for adoption by a water authority, an adoptable system like MetroSewer is required.

How is drainage pipe different from sewer pipe?

Drainage pipes are typically smaller in diameter and are used to transfer waste from a single property or a small number of dwellings. Sewer pipes, like MetroSewer, are designed for larger public or private sewer networks, handling waste from multiple properties.

What sizes of MetroSewer adoptable plastic sewer pipe are available?

MetroSewer is available in 150mm, 225mm, and 300mm diameters, catering to a range of sewer applications in both residential and commercial developments.
